London Road, Headington Oxford:

Downland Prize winner 2005, Commercial sector.

The scheme incorporates a full range of architectural solutions in order to fit a 6000 sq ft building in a site sandwiched between two existing nondescript buildings. The copper clad parapet roofs and the layered façades give a sculptural quality to the building. Natural stone has been used for the stair tower, coping stone and window surrounds. Specialist render for the façade, stainless steel balcony rails and powder coated aluminium glazing give the frontage a distinctive high quality finish and presence in the street scene.

The Downland Prize Jury hailed the project in glowing terms:

"Clever use of space and thoughtful layout, along with bold street presence, has provided the client with a landmark building that will continue to give them value for money.

"The project is proof that support, perseverance and confidence in the ability of their architect can overcome huge obstacles. It is a marvellous addition to the streetscape in this area of oxford - and will undoubtedly influence the next wave of development by acting as a catalyst for change and investment."

Downland Prize 2000 Overall Winner.

Norfolk house, located on an irregular shaped 170 sq m site in Littlegate Street, Central Oxford is a landmark building which points the way for the regeneration of neighbouring properties.

The Downland prize judge called the building "an elegant solution to an elaborate design conundrum in the middle of Oxford. This project is a shining illustration of the way that architects solve problems to fulfil their client's brief."
