Forming a part of the 1930’s ribbon development into Oxford, the modest house is in the process of being replaced by a contemporary proposal offering six new apartments. The opportunity to create a distinctive, stand-alone building, set amongst established landscape, trees and vegetation was taken full advantage.

Three separate blocks, orientated to maximize privacy and minimize visual impact, are joined by a central circulation space. To the main facades, a relief panel rises from the landscape and wraps around elevated balconies. These offer residents private outdoor space to enjoy with channeled views away from neighbouring dwellings. A curved zinc roof, set back, folds to form the sidewalls, again protecting the privacy of adjacent homes.
With completion due in summer 2008, this new addition to a leafy Oxford suburb, boldly presents a contemporary vision of alternative higher density living.
