Iffley Road, Oxford
Formally a pair of run down Victorian semi-detached houses located within the Iffley Fields Conservation Area.
Due to their prominent location within this historic area the Local Planning Authority were unwilling to agree to their demolition and the project brief was reviewed to extensively repair and refurbish the front elevation and main building envelope whilst significantly extending the rear to provide ten high quality self- contained apartments throughout.
The use of a high quality brick within the architectural detailing has resulted in the successful integration of all building elements, and when viewed together with the well considered external landscaping, the model project is acting as a catalyst for the regeneration of the immediate area now that the scene has been set by this imaginative and bold development. |
